【摘要】:1.1Thispracticedescribesworkpracticesforasbestos-cementproductswhenmaintenance,renovationandrepairarerequired.Thisincludescommontaskssuchasdrillingandcuttingholesinroofing,siding,pipes,etc.thatcanresultinexposuretoasbestosfibersifnotdonecarefully.1.2Materialscoveredincludethoseinstalledinoronbuildingsandfacilities,andthoseusedinexternalinfrastructuresuchaswater,wastewaterandelectricaldistributionsystems.Alsoincludedispavementmadefromasbestos-cementmanufacturingwaste.1.3Theworkpracticesdescribedhereinareintendedforuseonlywithasbestos-cementproductsalreadyinstalledinbuildings,facilitiesandexternalinfrastructure.Theyarenotintendedforuseinconstructionorrenovationinvolvingtheinstallationofnewasbestos-cementproducts.1.4Theworkpracticesdescribedhereinarenotintendedforusewheretheprimaryobjectiveistheremovalofasbestos-cementproductsfromthebuildingorotherlocation.Theworkpracticesareintendedtobeusedinsituationswheresmallamountsofasbestos-cementproductsmustberemovedordisturbedinordertoperformmaintenance,renovationorrepairnecessaryforoperationofthebuilding,facilityorinfrastructure.1.5Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.6Warning-Asbestosfibersareacknowledgedcarcinogens.Breathingasbestosfiberscanresultindiseaseofthelungsincludingasbestosis,lungcancer,andmesothelioma.Precautionsinthisstandardpracticeshouldbetakentoavoidcreatingandbreathingairborneasbestosparticlesfrommaterialsknownorsuspectedtocontainasbestos.Complywithallapplicableregulatoryrequirementsaddressingasbestos1.7Thispracticedoesnotaddresssafetyhazardsassociatedwithworkingonasbestos-cementproductssuchasfallingthroughroofpanelsortrenchcave-ins.Theuseofpowertoolspresentspossibleelectricalhazards,particularlyinwetenvironments.Theseandothersafetyhazardsmustbeconsideredandcontrolledincompliancewiththeemployer''spoliciesandapplicableregulations.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
